San Druff (Suspension)

Composition:
Each 100ml Suspension contains 2.5g selenium sulfide.

Mechanism of action:
San Druff appears to have a cytostatic effect on cells of the epidermis and follicular epithelium, thus reducing corneocyte production. San Druff acts as an antiseborrhoeic agent which effectively controls itching and scaling dandruff. It has activity against certain dermatophytes including Pityrosporum orbiculare causing pityriasis versicolor (tinea versicolor).

Indications:
Treatment of dandruff, tinea versicolor, and seborrhoeic dermatitis of scalp.

Usage:
Children: Under 5 years: Safety and effectiveness in children under 5 years have not been established.
5-14 years: Treatment as for adults.
Adults:
Treatment of dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis: Rub scalp area with 1-2 teaspoons of San Druff with some water. Leave it for 2-3 minutes then rinse it thoroughly with water, repeat the application and rinse thoroughly. After use, wash your hands thoroughly. Usually two applications per week for two weeks will afford dandruff control. After this it may be used at less intervals, every two weeks, or every 3-4 weeks in some cases. It should not be applied more frequently than required to maintain control.
Treatment of tinea versicolor: Apply on the affected areas and wet with a small amount of water.Allow to remain on skin for 10 minutes.Rinse body thoroughly.Repeat this procedure once a day for 7 days.

Application instructions:
Shake well before using, keep tightly capped.
Product may damage jewelry, so remove jewelry before use.
Side effects:
Application to skin or scalp may produce irritation or sensitization, and an increase in the amount of normal hair loss. Discoloration of the hair may occur; this can be avoided or minimized by thorough washing of the hair after treatment. As with other treatments, oiliness or dryness of hair and scalp may occur. 

Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. Do not allow contact with broken or inflamed skin.  

Precautions:

  1. For external use only.
  2. Do not use on bruising skin or inflamed areas.
  3. If allergic reactions occur, discontinue use.
  4. Avoid getting the drug in eyes or in contact with genital area and skin folds as it may cause irritation and burning. These areas should be thoroughly rinsed after applications.
  5. You should wait 48 hours if used on bleached, tinted, grey, or permed hair, rinse for 5 minutes.
  6. Not to be used when inflammation or exudation is present, as increased absorption may occur.
  7. Keep this medicine out of reach of children.

Use in pregnancy or lactation:
The effect of the drug on pregnancy or lactation is unknown. As with all medications, avoid during the first 3 months of pregnancy.
