Rhi-Trivin  (Nasal Drops)
Nasal Decongestant

Composition:
Each 1ml Nasal Drops contains 0.5mg Xylometazoline HCl.

Mechanism of Action:
Rhi-Trivin is a sympathomimetic agent with marked a-adrenergic activity, and it is intended for use in the nose. Rhi-Trivin constricts the nasal blood vessels, thereby, decongesting the mucosa of the nose and neighboring regions of pharynx. This enables patients suffering from colds to breathe easily though the nose.

Indications:
Rhi-Trivin is for the symptomatic relief of nasal congestion, allergic rhinitis (including hay fever), and sinusitis.

Usage:
Children: 1-2 drops in each nostril 1-2 times daily.
Adults: 2-3 drops in each nostril 2-3 times daily.

Side Effects:
A burning sensation in the nose and throat, dryness of the nasal mucosa, systemic cardiovascular effects, and this should be kept in mind when prescribed to patients with cardiovascular disease.

Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the drug.

Precautions:

  • Each dropper should be used by one person only to prevent cross infection.
  • Patients are advised not to take decongestants for more than 7 consecutive days.
  • It should not be used in infants less than 3 months.
  • It should be used only with caution in patients showing a strong reaction to sympathomimetic agents.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation:
It is not recommended to use in pregnancy and lactation.

Presentation:
