In flexible Collodion
Properties:
The combination of salicylic acid and lactic acid in flexible collodion has been shown to be particularly effective in treating warts, corns and calluses. Salicylic acid has bacteriostatic and fungicidal actions as well as keratolytic properties. Its effectiveness for topical treatment of hyperkeratotic skin lesions is based on mild keratolytic action, which produces slow and painless destruction of the epithelium. Keratolytic properties due to salicylic acid, which leads to better response in virus warts than immunological warts and the mechanical removal of infected cells. Lactic acid has antiseptic and caustic properties.
Indications:
VERSAL is used for topical treatment of warts, corns and calluses.
Usage:
Apply VERSAL once daily as follows:
- At night, soak the affected site in warm water for 2 – 3 minutes.
- Dry that affected site thoroughly.
- Carefully apply one or two drops (with a cotton swab) of VERSAL to the lesion and allow drying over its surface. Take care to avoid spreading onto surrounding normal skin.
- The next evening, carefully remove and discard the film formed, soak the affected area in water, dry thoroughly, and apply VERSAL.
- Once a week, gently rub away the treated surface to remove the
upper part of lesion.
Remember that your wart, corn, or callus may take up to 12 weeks to disappear. But you should persevere with your treatment.
Side – Effects:
Rarely it may cause dermatitis.
Contra – Indications:
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
Precautions:
- If pain or inflammation persists, treatment should be discontinued.
- Keep away the product from eyes and mucous membranes. It should not be used on face, anal, genital regions, or moles.
- Avoid contact with the treated area.
- The product contains evaporative solvents, so do not inhale vapor. Keep the cap firmly closed when not in use.
- The product should be used with caution in patients with impaired peripheral circulation, or diabetics.
