Azelec

Azelec

Composition:

Each 100g Cream contains 20g Azelaic Acid.

Mechanism of Action:

AZELEC cream suppresses the growth of the propioni-bacteria, which involved in the development of acne and protects skin from acne promoting fatty acids.

AZELEC cream also reduces the multiplication of keratinocytes and their keratinization, and therefore restricts the formation of comedones.

Indications:

AZELEC cream is indicated for the topical treatment of mild to moderate inflammatory acne vulgaris. Azelec cream can be used as an aid for hyperpigmentation.

Usage:

Clean and dry the affected area, then apply AZELEC cream twice daily (in the morning and evening), and rubbed in well. AZELEC cream should be used on the affected area exactly, and should not spread on the intact skin. It is advisable not to expose to the sun during the treatment period. When skin irritation occurs, it should be necessary to reduce the frequency of use to once daily, or to interrupt the treatment briefly. The frequency should be increased again to twice daily after the irritation has subsided, and the treatment should be continued regularly.

The amount of AZELEC cream to be applied will depend on the size of the affected area. As a guide, a daily dose of 2g (1g per application) will be sufficient for the treatment of the entire facial area. If other areas of acne, in addition to the face, require treatment (for example the chest and back), a daily dose of 10g of AZELEC cream should not, in general, be exceeded.

Treatment period is individual, it depends on the severity of the acne. A distinct improvement is generally noticeable after about one month. AZELEC cream should not be used for more than 6 months.

Side effects:

Burning is frequent mainly within the first month of treatment, and occasionally during the entire treatment. Redness, itching, and stinging occurs occasionally, less frequently from the second month of treatment. The skin may occasionally peel at the start of treatment.

Contra-Indications:

Hypersensitivity to the product.

Precautions:

  • AZELEC cream is intended for external use. Care must be taken to avoid contact with mucous or eyes. Accidental contact with the eyes must immediately be flushed thoroughly with plenty of water.
  • To avoid the use of occlusive dressings.
  • Protect from freezing since the active material is waxy.

Use in Pregnancy or Lactation:

It should be used with caution in pregnancy or lactation.
