Composition:
Each tablet contains 4mg chlorpheniramine maleate and 30mg dextromethorphan hydrobromide.
Mechanism of action:
Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antihistamine, Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant.
Indications:
Cold Free is used to:
- Temporarily relieves of cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation as may occur with a cold.
- Temporarily relieves of runny nose and sneezing due to the common cold.
Contraindications:
If you have ever had an allergic reaction to this product or any of its ingredients.
If you are taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (certain drugs for depression, psychiatric or emotional conditions, or Parkinson's disease), or for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI drug.
Precautions:
- Ask a doctor before use if you have:
- Glaucoma
- trouble urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland
- cough that occurs with excessive phlegm (mucus)
- a breathing problem or persistent or chronic cough as occurs with smoking, asthma, chronic bronchitis, or emphysema
- Use caution when driving a motor vehicle or operating machinery
- Stop use and ask a doctor if cough lasts more than 7 days, reoccurs, or occurs with fever, rash or persistent headache. These could be signs of a serious condition.
- Alcohol, sedatives and tranquilizers may increase drowsiness
- Avoid alcoholic beverages
- If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use.
Side effects:
- Excitability may occur, especially in children.
- Drowsiness.
Posology and method of administration:
Adults and children 12 years and over:
Take 1 tablet every 6 hours, not more than 4 tablets in 24 hours.
Do not exceed recommended dose
Children under 12 years of age: ask a doctor.
