Fucedex

Composition:

Each 100g Cream contains 2g Fusidic Acid.

Mechanism of Action:

Fucedex is a potent antibacterial, it inhibits protein-synthesis and exhibits ability to penetrate intact skin. Fucedex is effective against streptococci, corynobacteria, neisseria and clostridia. Fucedex is also used in severe infections caused by staphylococci especially strains of staphylococcus aureus.

Indications:

Fucedex is used in treatment of impetigo contagiosa, folliculitis, furunculosis, sycosis barbae, hidradenitis, abscesses, carbuncles, paronychia and erythasma. Fucedex is also used in secondary skin infections such as infected aczematoid dermatitis, infected contact dermatitis, infected wounds, burns, and ulcers.

Usage:

Apply a small quantity 3 – 4 times daily in uncovered lesions and less frequent application is adequate in covered lesions.

Side - Effects:

Rarely mild irritation.

Contra - Indications:

Infections caused by pseudomonas aeruginosa, or hypersensitivity to fusidate.

Precaution:

It should not be used near the eye, as it may cause conjunctival irritation.

Resistance against Fusidate:

It is low in staphylococcus aureus. Fucedex exhibits no cross hypersensitivity with other antibiotics.

Use in Pregnancy or Lactation:

Fucedex is used in pregnancy or lactation, as it has only topical effect.
